The Australian kelpie is very loyal, and very loyal. He has an instinctive talent for working on sheep, whether outdoors or within an enclosure. The Australian kelpie is alert, but not outspoken guard dog. He gets the necessary employment, he is a good, lively family dog that needs but consistent education. He is very people - friendly and child-related. In General, the Australian kelpie is very friendly with other dogs and seeks no quarrel. If it is however time required, the kelpie can assert itself well.

HAIR:
The hair of the Australian kelpie has short, dense Undercoat. The outer coat is dense, each hair straight, hard and flat-fitting, so it protects from rain. Under the body and up to the back of the limbs, the hair is longer, forming something like a light "trousers" near the thigh. The hair is short on the head (including the inside of the ears), on the front of the limbs and the paws. The neck is longer and thicker and forms a collar. The rod must carry a strong brush. Too long or too short hair is flawed. On average, the hair on the body must be 2-3 cm long.

HISTORY:
Ancestress of the breed is considered to be a descendant of the um 1870 collies brought from England to Australia (General term for sheep dogs in England) called kelpie. She was very successful in Hat contests, and so her puppies were in great demand. The race was then named after her. It is quite possible that sheep dogs of different breeds were crossed in the early days. The presumption that dingoes with collies were crossed, is rather unlikely.
Hi zusammen,
